Forget the Flowers

DoSmallThingsWithGreatLoveOften, we can feel if we can’t do that one great, big thing then we can’t do anything. The local crisis known as foster care is not that way.

Every hour spent loving a biological family is critical.
Every week spent as a foster family is precious.
Every donated item of clothing is needed.

Every dollar contributed brings us closer to emptying shelters and filling families.
Every single action is great.

Mother’s Day is more than cards or flowers; it’s a day to show mothers, grandmothers, aunts, friends our appreciation for raising us, encouraging us, loving us.

This Mother’s Day, the 111Project is asking you to #forgettheflowers and instead help us leverage the local church to make sure every single child in foster care has someone special to celebrate on this special day.

Your donation will support the 111Project in our efforts. We recruit Oklahoma foster families who serve as a safe refuge for kids in need. We deploy countless families to serve biological families in need, those who are desperate to get their kids back and need the community to wrap around them with a firm foundation of support. We plant a village of love for adoptive families as they welcome children into their forever home. We encourage our social workers as they weather this difficult work, to let them know they have an ally in the local church and its people. We assert prayer cover for all those engaged in this issue. We provide a critical, game-changing online platform that allows real-time response to meet the tangible needs of all these families.

We’re so honored to bring the tool to Oklahoma that can do just that: the 111Project CarePortal. It’s the quickest, easiest way to make an immediate difference in foster care. We’ve partnered with OKDHS to make this available to their entire team of caseworkers, who can log tangible needs of families—biological, foster, and adoptive families—into the CarePortal. Once you’re signed up, you’ll receive a text message of what’s needed, be it a set of bunk beds or a box of diapers. Then, when a need has been met, you’ll get another text message to celebrate with us.

We simply cannot let our Oklahoma families down.

For Mother’s Day this year, we implore you to #forgettheflowers and support #fostercare through the 111Project. We all can “do small things with great love” and the best way to start is by making a financial gift today.

Donate $10 today and the 111Project will send you a link to download and print the artwork.
