TRAINING FOR CHURCH RESPONDERS
1. Join Your Church CarePortal team, if you haven’t done so already. Contact us if you need help enrolling!
2. Find requests via the CarePortal Map, CarePortal Search, or in emails sent by your church or agency.
3. Discuss with your team leader about your group or church response team radius as it effects if you are treated as a local relational responder or if you are an out-of-area resource responder. CarePortal allows teams to choose their radius to honor local churches that are closer to the point of care.
4. Once you respond, look for an email from CarePortal with the caseworker’s contact information if you responded as a local relational responder. If you responded with funding or to an out-of-area request, another local church will utilize the CarePortal card to claim that funding and use it to meet the needs of the family.
5. Coordinate with the caseworker and potentially the family over how to meet the request. We suggest not buying or securing items until you confirm items are still needed with family as scenarios can change quickly.
6. Give feedback to 111Project CarePortal about your experience after the caseworker lets us know that the request has been closed.
